Akasha is Greyson's female Boa. Born January, 2006. The species Boa constrictor includes several documented subspecies, which vary by region, and slight differences in color and markings.

Most boas do not lay eggs, rather, the vast majority of them are ovoviviparous, or give the appearance of giving live birth. Embryos of viviparous and ovoviviparous organisms develop entirely inside the body of the mother. The primary difference is that ovoviviparous embryos are nourished by a yolk, while viviparous embryos are nourished directly from the mother's body. Below is a picture of a boa being 'born'
